Tour Details

No history class can hold a candle to this fascinating tour of three historic World War II sites. On this Hawaii tour, you’ll visit the USS Arizona Memorial, Battleship Missouri, and see the Punchbowl National Cemetery. These three sites had an integral role in the outcome of the Second World War. Prepare to be moved by the anecdotes from veteran tour guides as well as the many war artifacts you’ll encounter.

The first stop on this tour is the USS Arizona Memorial. Only accessible by boat, this memorial was built atop the wreckage of the sunken battleship and is visited by more than one million people each year. On December 7, 1941, this ship was bombed by Japanese planes; more than 1,000 crewmen perished in the attack. As a result of this attack, the U.S. became directly involved in the war. Within the memorial, there is a floor opening that offers a view of the ship’s sunken decks.

Following your USS Arizona tour, you’ll continue to the next stop, Battleship Missouri. The 35-minute guided tour provides a glimpse of the ship’s storied past. This particular battleship did not meet a watery end like the USS Arizona. In fact, it was the site of the Japanese surrender in September 1945. You’ll actually have the chance to stand where General Douglas MacArthur accepted the surrender, a truly remarkable historic location.

After Pearl Harbor, sit back for a narrated drive to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl, where many American men and women who died fighting for their country are buried. The trip culminates with a drive through historic Honolulu to see the area’s noteworthy landmarks: the Hawaii State Capital, Honolulu City Hall, Iolani Palace, and Kawaiahao Church.

Please Note: The Battleship Missouri Memorial elevator is currently out of order, and is not ADA accessible until further notice. The US Department of the Interior has instituted a "no bags" policy at the Arizona Memorial and Visitor Center. A photo ID is required of all guests 16 years of age or older to enter Pearl Harbor. Guests under 16 should have a copy of their birth certificate. Pearl Harbor is still an active military installation, and as such there are strict security measures prohibiting large cameras, purses, handbags, fanny packs, backpacks, camera bags, diaper bags, luggage, shopping bags, and/or other items that offer concealment. No bags of any size are allowed. A small camera is permitted. The camera lens cannot exceed 6 inches. Wheelchairs, walkers, and canes may be used. Strollers are allowed, but with limited access to the site. Crowds and waiting are to be expected. Please bring vital items in a manner that they can be placed in your pockets.
