Tour Details

Take a day trip from Dublin to tour Giant's Causeway. This natural wonder and World Heritage site is an interlocking formation of 40,000 basalt columns rising from the sea as a result of volcanic eruptions years ago. On this guided tour, you can climb the "causeway," cross a rope bridge, walk along the northern shore, and explore Dunluce Castle and Belfast.

Your journey begins once you are picked up from Dublin in a comfortable coach. The drive takes you to the Dark Hedges, an awe-inspiring and dense avenue of beech trees planted in the 17th century. The Dark Hedges were featured in HBO's Game of Thrones, depicting scenes on the King's Road. Departing from the Dark Hedges, you will head to Giant's Causeway. The walk on the cliffs of Giant's Causeway is optional, but it is recommended for an optimal view of the water, not to mention the excitement of walking along a UNESCO site and one of Ireland's Seven Wonders. Be sure to explore the surrounding area for the basalt formations known as "The Giant's Boot," "The Honeycomb," and "Camel's Hump." If you're hungry after your little adventure, The Nook restaurant and The Causeway Hotel are available for food and snacks. Some who tour here prefer to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the beach.

Your Giant's Causeway tour then continues on to Carrick, home of the old rope bridge. Enjoy an hour walk to the start of the bridge with spectacular views only visible on this route. As you cross the bridge, you will be surrounded by the natural beauty of the Mull of Kintyre and Rathlin Island.

After the bridge crossing, you will get back on board the provided bus and head out to Dunluce Castle, the most romantic castle in Ireland and the former home to the McDonnell clan. It is also rumored to be the inspiration for the famous castle in the book, "The Chronicles of Narnia." Following the Dunlace Castle tour, you will have an hour to explore Belfast city and visit the main shopping district before your tour returns to Dublin. This Dublin day trip is full of excitement and once in a lifetime experiences, so get your cameras ready and join the adventure.
