Begin your Shanghai day tour at your doorstep, with complimentary pick-up by an air-conditioned transportation service. Your first stop in the "Pearl of China" will be at the Jade Buddha Temple. You will travel to the temple, which was built in the Qing Dynasty but with architectural influences from the much older Song Dynasty. The temple is home to an incredible collection of jade art and statues, and it is still a place of solace and a home for Buddhist monks. After the wondrous beauty of the temple, you will ride to the Freshwater Pearl Gallery, where you will get a peek at the process in which pearls are harvested. The locals who work at the gallery will show you how they cultivate pearls from mussels, and you may even get lucky by winning a free pearl.

Transition from one set of gorgeous scenery to another for a visit to People's Square. People's Square is a large public square in the heart of Shanghai and the focal point of the city, containing the municipal government buildings and many other landmarks. You will enjoy the beautiful greenery of the area before entering the Shanghai Museum to tour the highlight of People's Square. The Shanghai Museum is certainly one of the most important locations of the city, holding over 120,000 pieces of important bronze artifacts, ceramic pieces, paintings, sculptures, jade carvings, ancient furniture, and much more. The contents of the museum highlight over 5000 years of Chinese history and remain one of the most important collections in China's grand history. Those interested may rent audio headphones to get an even more educational experience. There is so much to learn about in the museum.

It is an incredibly serene area with all kinds of native Chinese plants, including bonsai trees and walkways that cross over fish-filled ponds. The garden was built and owned by the Pan family during the Ming era and was the largest and most prestigious garden of the in Shanghai at that time. After your Yuyuan Garden tour, you will leave the ancient for the modern as you visit the most famous viewing site of today's China, the Bund. Tour the four-mile-long waterfront stretch along the Huangpu River that forms a collection of buildings and wharves that comprise the city's financial and commercial center. Not only are the world's most powerful banks and trading centers here, but you will also note that the architecture of the area is truly remarkable.

From the Bund you will travel to the famous Silk Factory. The workers will detail the interesting silk-making process to you, and afterward you can browse their shop for any silk products that you can get at a low price. Then, you will travel through the former French Concession, an area once governed by France and still characterized by beautiful European architecture, to Xin Tian Di.
